Being part of something

When you start thinking about all the things that go into starting a distillery, one thing is often forgotten - friends.  We have had our doors open in downtown Paris now for almost four weeks.  We haven't been distilling anything or selling anything for that matter, but just being downtown and feeling the excitement in the air has been something great to witness.

We have a lot going on in the distillery - packages coming and going, furniture being unboxed and put together, new equipment being opened and stared at, construction crews in and out.  But none of this compares to the scale of what is happening in downtown Paris.  New restaurants opening, older ones moving down the street.  Rumors of new businesses coming into the community of downtown-ites.  A real sense of direction that everyone feels, and yet no one seems to know where it came from.

Above all, the thing we have certainly enjoyed the most is meeting new people and getting closer with old friends.  It is a rare hour that someone doesn't just pop in to either introduce themselves or stop by to say hello again.  With our doors opening on a more regular basis, one thing we hope will continue is the amazing support we have received from our downtown business brethren.

Here's to you downtown Paris.
